    Great Barrier Reef – The world’s greatest reef system, stretching over 2000km along Queensland’s north-east coast.  As the world’s largest and most complex reef system, it has thousands of coral reefs and hundreds of continental islands, reef islands and cays, small bare sand cays and permanent vegetated cays.  Exploring the reef is most exhilarating.  One can snorkel or scuba dive with equipment provided by trained crews to assist, or view the reef from a variety of submersible or underwater observatories.  Swimmers and non-swimmers are catered for in a variety of ways.  Take a scenic flight via plane or helicopter.  Access is easy to the outer reef and islands from a number of points all along the coast to suit style and budget.
